I heard back from Argonne. The bad news is that the deadline
for applying for their summer program was Feb 1, but the good
news is that the deadline is apparently fairly soft. So you should
still be able to apply and receive some (if not "full") consideration
To apply, go to
http://www.dep.anl.gov/p_shared/researchAide_appts/shorterm.htm
Let me know if I can help in any way.

Hey,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I wanted to wait until
plans were a bit more solid.
So me and a friend have put in an application for this 2BR apartment
near campus. I will be moving into it May 29th, but my friend wont be
able to move until September, so a room will be availaible for the
summer. I have living room furniture, so it will be partially
furnished, but youll have to get a bed. The rent is $787, so ~$400
per person plus utils. The apartment is on the west side of campus,
about a ten minute walk from where our offices are, and a block from a
main street akin to Magazine St in NOLA. The address is 3502 Beech
Ave, Baltimore, Maryland 2121.
Lemme know if it sounds appealing. I know you wanted something
furnished, and a move-in date that was a bit earlier.
Umar,
Hi Rob,
Here are the websites besides craigslist where I look for housing and
as far as I've seen, there seems to be quite a lot summer sublet.

Let me know if you need more information about safety issue of the location.

Hi Rob,
You can definitely find something within walking distance and I would
recommend this.
The neighborhood around homewood is reasonably safe and you can walk
easily to work
or you can take one of the JHU shuttles that bring you home within a 1
mile radius.
I think Hamden and Roland Park are fine, Charles village seems to be ok
for the first
few blocks next to the Campus. If you bring your bicycle you can even
live farther away
as well.
I cannot recommend public transport. We took the bus every now and then
and it was
never a pleasant experience. If you don't mind to share the bus with
drug addicts or
sitting next to people that evidently peed into their pants having not a
single tooth left
in their mouth, then taking the bus is an option as well.
If you need a car only every now and then I'm sure that somebody can
borrow you a car.
I have a car now and we don't need it every day. Brock found a car
sharing service that
seems to work fine. Keep in mind that you have to move your car around
frequently if
you decide to bring it or you have to pay for a parking lot.
Anyways, I'd stick as close as possible to the campus, but listen what
the natives tell
you, maybe I'm just paranoid.
looking forward to see you here at Hopkins - Gernot
I think the Austrians are paranoid about Baltimore, but they never lived in New Orleans. So, maybe take the dire warnings with a grain of salt.
